Modern LED Backlit House Numbers Waterproof Address Signage
Color Rendering Index (CRI) is another spec we pay attention to, especially for retail and food brands. Cheap LEDs often have a low CRI, which makes a red logo look washed out or brownish at night. We use High-CRI emitters (Ra>90) for every backlit letter we build. This ensures that the light reflecting off the wall matches your brand colors exactly. When you see a backlit letter that looks vibrant and punchy, it is usually because of the superior CRI, not just because the wattage is higher.
What if you need to install your sign on a glass storefront? You obviously can't drill holes for wires. In these cases, we mount the backlit letter onto a "phantom bar" or a clear polycarbonate rail. We hide the ultra-thin wiring inside this clear tube, which is then adhered to the glass using high-strength UV glue. It allows the backlit letter to maintain that floating effect without messy visible cables hanging down the window, solving a huge headache for shop owners in malls.
Lastly, let's mention the legal side. In the US and Canada, local inspectors look for the UL or ETL sticker. If it is missing, they can force you to take the sign down. We place the certification label discreetly on the top or side of the first backlit letter in the set, or on the power supply box. This small sticker proves that the backlit letter meets all fire and electrical safety codes, saving you from getting fined or failing your final building inspection.
